Inhalt

Das Modul behandelt zunächst die Rolle empirischer Untersuchungen für den Informationsgewinn in der Forschung und Praxis der Informatik und stellt dann generisch das Vorgehen bei empirischen Untersuchungen vor (mit den folgenden Phasen: Definition der Fragestellung, Auswahl der Methode(n), Entwurf der Studie, Durchführung, Auswertung, Bericht/Präsentation).

Aufbauend auf diesem Grundverständnis und anhand der zentralen Qualitätsbegriffe von Glaubwürdigkeit (insbesondere innere Gültigkeit) und Relevanz (insbesondere äußere Gültigkeit) werden dann verschiedene Methodenklassen (z.B. kontrollierte Experimente, Quasiexperimente, Umfragen etc.) behandelt und jeweils anhand realer Fallbeispiele veranschaulicht: Eignung und Gegenanzeigen; Stärken und Schwächen; Vorgehen; Fallstricke.

In der Übung wird die Benutzung von Software für die Datenauswertung erlernt und eine kleine empirische Studie projekthaft komplett von der Konzeption bis zur Präsentation durchgeführt.
