SoSe 15: Brief Interventions

Johanna Böttcher

Comments

Data from health care providers demonstrate that days of sick leave due to mental disorders increased by 70% in the last 10 years. More and more people need mental health treatment while health care resources are limited. Brief interventions offer one potential solution for bridging the gap between treatment needs and resources. In this course, we want to evaluate the benefits, potential, and limits of brief interventions for treating mental disorders. Ranging from Solution Focused Therapy to Motivational Interviewing, we want to explore the theoretical underpinnings and clinical applications of these parsimonious treatments. Students are expected to actively take part in discussions and exercises and to give a short presentation. The course is held in English. Erasmus students are very welcome. close
