Introductory session: April 22. 2016, 10am-noon, room K040

Compact course: June 25.-29. 2016, 10am-4pm, room K044

Certificates and grading criteria: 

  • Regular and active participation
  • Written/digital assignment related to presentation (approx. 10 pages). Submission of the written assignment prior to the seminar.
  • Presentation (45 mins.) of the assignment and exercise or discussion in cooperation with lecturer. Submission/feedback of the presentation prior to the seminar.

As far as all criteria is completed, students will receive a certificate including 3, 4, 5 or 10 credit points (ECTS) depending on their choosen module. I am asking all students to adress their individual situation in the introductory session, so I can give appropriate information. 

For example, students may use 5 credits for their Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, and for their Master Degree in Computer Science as „Wissenchaftliches Arbeiten Praktische Informatik“ („Research Work Applied Computer Science", as ABV for their Diploma in Applied Computer Science, and for their Educational Degree in combination with "E-Learning/project eLearning“ (10 credit points combined). The course may also be part of the individual or major coursework for Bachelor Degrees.

Participants of other disciplines are requested to ask their departments for accountability.

Research Seminar on Digital Video (Compact Course)

Digital video became a major part of media communication in recent years. Besides entertainment, video manages to represent complex audiovisual issues in spite of regional and chronological limitations. This is why digital video is also an increasing assistance for teaching and information processing nowadays. 

A broad spectrum of the feasibility and mechanization of computational procedures are fundamental to the production, transmission and presentation of digital videos. This spectrum is subject of the Research Seminar Digital Video. 

Participants of this course will deal with aspects of digital video whilst learning how to prepare scientific dissertations and presentations in computer science. Students may work in either German or English.

Research topics will be specified in the introductory session and range from code to application, from html5 to Youtube. Specific knowlegde in the field is welcome but not required. 

Participants:

Students that are interested in multimedia, feasible for students of all faculties. Students may prepare their written assigments and presentations either in German or English.  

The course is part of the module e-learning/digital video (plus computer science practice) and of the module e-learning (plus computer science practice) of the new teaching degrees and is open to students of teaching.
