Kommentar

From its earlier history the Mare nostrum has been the realm of travelers, soldiers and sailors, moving by land and sea from one region to the other. Circulation of people and objects, trades between the shores of the Mediterranean are amply testified from the ancient time. Even for periods once thought stagnant recent works have revealed a profusion of movement and communication across and around the Mediterranean. The aim of the module is to analyze this “connectedness” focusing both of human mobility and on the circulation of objects. Seminars will be articulated as such: 1) analysis of historiography on the subject; 2) reading and analysis of primary sources (in English translation). The course will take place every other week and will be taught in English. Schließen
