Anderson Abel de Souza Machado

Kommentar

Inhalte:
A detailed insight into the concept of Anthropocene and its various associated global changes, such as anthropogenic stressors of chemical (e.g. nutrients, metals, persistent organic pollutants, and emerging contaminants), physical (e.g. microplastics, sediment loads, brownification, temperature), and biological (e.g. eutrophication, invasive species) nature. Practical ecotoxicological work will be coupled to group discussions, which will enable a broad overview of important tools in pollution science.

Qualifikationsziele:
After successfully attending this module, students will have been introduced to the main basic concepts of global change and pollution science. The students will be familiar with the broad range anthropogenic activities that can alter the function of the Earth system, the most representative baseline changes and their environmental known consequences. Multidisciplinary hands on activities will provide additional insight into the transfer of those concepts into real world situations regarding environmental risk assessment, pollution management, and environmental restoration.
