SoSe 18: From Questions to Projects -- Designing and Conducting Research in the Social Sciences

Markus Siewert

Comments

The aim of this course is to make first-hand experiences with what it means to conduct a research project in the social sciences. Designing and implementing student projects is at the center of this course; this involves developing a research question, setting up a proper design for the study, and collecting and analyzing the required information. In order to gain research-oriented competences, it is important for students to come face to face with essential trade-offs and pitfalls of empirical social sciences. In doing so, the seminar offers a laboratory for empirical research projects under the guidance of a lecturer. close
