This seminar will elaborate molecular pathways of neurodegenerative diseases with an emphasis on Alzheimer’s disease. During the course, we will discuss concepts of causality and correlation, peripheral and central cholesterol metabolism, the blood-brain-barrier, and pharmacological concepts of drug administration and metabolism. The instructor (I, Lisa Munter) will give seminars and active learning exercises, while the students will participate with short oral presentations (to be prepared beforehand) and short written assignments (one before, one after the seminar, 1.5 pages each).
