Comments

The first part of the seminar (so-called “preparatory phase”) introduces the most important basic disciplines and methods of ancient history. The second part is devoted to the topic “ancient catastrophes”. Here, the knowledge und instruments acquired in the first part will be practiced on specific sources, objects and questions. The focus is on how ancient people reacted to disasters. How did they interpret and process them? What provisions did they take (if any)? The seminar will discuss current research problems in connection with the seminar topic. The acquisition of a „Schein“ requires regular participation and provision of the written and oral services specified in the respective examination and study regulations. Working language in this course is German. close
