Comments

The course serves to focus on Arabic literature, language and culture. Particularly with regard to the Master's thesis, students deepen their understanding of central literary and cultural studies approaches and their ability to develop their own research questions. For this purpose, examples of current research literature as well as students' own analyses of literary and non-literary texts and testimonies of cultural practice will be presented and discussed. The focus is on the question of how theoretical and methodological approaches can be made fruitful for work with primary texts and other cultural testimonies. At regular intervals, an 'object' is presented for which the students consider how this object could be dealt with in a written work. Which questions arise? Which theoretical and methodological approaches are appropriate? What secondary literature can be found? The students present their thoughts online in a discussion forum or by means of voice threads. close
