Kommentar

Das Seminar widmet sich der Gattung der Schreibkunst im vormodernen China. Werk- und textanalytisch werden die TeilnehmerInnen einführend mit Kompositionssystemen, Pinsel- und Tuschetechniken, schrifttypspezifischen Ausprägungen und Stilen sowie ästhetischen Begriffen und Diskursen der vormodernen Schreibkunst Chinas vertraut gemacht. Die Aufmerksamkeit soll hierbei besonders auf die gattungsinhärenten Dimensionen der Körperlichkeit, Materialität und des performativen Aktes gelenkt werden. Auch besteht ein Anliegen des Seminars in der grundsätzlichen Auseinandersetzung mit dem übersetzungstechnisch nicht unproblematischen Begriff shufa (wörtl. Regeln, Methoden des Schreibens), welcher mit der gängigen Bezeichnung als „Kalligraphie“ (gr. kallós: schön; graphein: schreiben) nur unzulänglich, gar missverständlich erfasst ist. Durch das Herausarbeiten von Verbindungspunkten sowohl zu kulturell und soziopolitisch bestimmten Lebensbereichen als auch zu verwandten Kunst- und Wissenschaftsbereichen wie Medizin, Musik, Dichtung und Malerei soll der Körper des Schriftzeichens über seine individuelle ‚physiognomische‘ Beschaffenheit hinaus auch als kosmologisch, ethisch-philosphisch und machtpolitisch informierter Körper und Bedeutungsträger allmählich ausgemeißelt und hinsichtlich differenzierbarer Beziehungsgeflechte näher definiert werden. Außerdem werden wichtige, an die Kulturgeschichte der traditionellen Schreibkunst Chinas angebundene Topoi und Themenkomplexe wie Kopie und Reproduktion, Transformation und Innovation, wie auch Mythos und Kanonisierung in der Kunsthistoriographie in die Betrachtung mit einbezogen und reflektiert.
