Comments

In this part of the module we will trace the development of the English language from being a Germanic dialect brought to the British Isles in the 5th century AD to its present-day varieties. We will cover the major changes in the English language in the context of the political, cultural and social history of its speakers. We will take a closer look at the developments in English phonology, morphology, lexicology and syntax.
