      WiSe 13/14: Comparative Economic Systems
Theocharis Grigoriadis
Kommentar
This course offers to students a comprehensive overview of the new and vibrant field of comparative economics that has emerged from transition economics and the economics of central planning. The first part of the course focuses on institutions and economic performance, comparative legal systems, comparative financial systems, religion and culture and their linkages to democracy and dictatorship. The second part of the course concentrates in the effects of institutions on economic growth, comparative analysis of electoral rules, and the Chinese model of transition. A written in-class exam is the main form of evaluation for this course.
