WiSe 13/14: Topics in Macroeconomics

Topics in Macroeconomics will focus primarily on the issue of long-term real economic growth, in particular as it relates to the U.S. economy. The Solow growth model will provide a theoretical basis, and used to describe how changes in the capital stock, labor supply, and technology can all affect the prospects of an economy’s growth potential. Topics such as the effects of population growth and aging, the history of economic growth in the United States, and policies to promote growth will also be discussed. Evaluation will be based on biweekly problem sets, a final exam, and participation in class activities. Course management will be conducted through Blackboard. close
