Kirsten Middeke
Kommentar
This course introduces students to the basic concepts and methods in the study and description of language, with modern English as the primary object of investigation. Students will be introduced to the different levels of linguistic analysis (phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics) and to different fields in linguistics, such as historical linguistics and sociolinguistics. You will be made familiar with linguistic terminology in English and German, as well as with some current methods and tools for linguistic analysis, which will enable you to pursue further studies in the discipline.
