This course presents various theories and schools of international political economy. The institutional structure and characteristics of international trade and the history of the global economy will be analysed theoretically and empirically. One objective is to provide students with theoretical tools and analytical language which enable a critical understanding of the international political economy by taking current theoretical controversies into account. It is recommended that course participants are familiar with basic micro- and macroeconomic terminology.
