SoSe 13: U.S. Foreign Policy and the Developing World
Thomas Greven
Kommentar
While US relations to long standing allies, especially in Europe, have recently lost relevance - or have been taken for granted - US foreign policy towards developing and newly industrialized countries, especially China and India, have gained prominence, for economic and security reasons. Even US relations to economically unimportant countries and reasons, namely Africa, have increased in relevance as a consequence of the threat of Islamist terrorism and, to a lesser extent, resource competition. We will discuss various theoretical approaches to the study of foreign policy and explore US foreign policy towards the developing world with respect to various issues as well as region by region.
