SoSe 13: Marriage in Early Modern European Drama
Madeline Rüegg
Kommentar
In this seminar, we will examine six plays from early modern Spain, England and France. We will first consider the historical context of the Reformation and Counter-Reformation and how it influenced marriage as an institution, and, then, we will analyse how these plays engage with the religious and socio-political issues related to marriage in the early modern period and trace similarities and differences from one country to another.
