Yan He
Kommentar
From the beginning of the cold war to Richard Nixon's visit to China in 1972, Sino-American relationship experienced a dramatic change: from confrontation to rapprochement. However, problems between the two powers have never been fully solved, such as the issues of Taiwan, environmental protection, economic relations and human rights. This course will provide an overview of historical and contemporary relations between China and the U.S., from 1945 to date. The purpose of the course is to familiarize students with the continuity, discontinuity and complications of the Sino-American relationship. In addition to introducing diplomatic, military and economic relations between China and the United States, this course will also explore cultural, social and psychological interactions between their people. Materials used include journal articles, books, media reports, original archives as well as documentaries and films. This class is in English. Schließen
