1. Contents: This lecture gives a brief survey of all major fields of molecular cell biology as well as an in depth view on cell adhesion, signal transduction and cellular oncogenesis. It also features several modern techniques commonly used in cell biology. 2. Literature: Books: "Molecular Biology of the Cell" by Alberts et al. (5th, 2007, Garland Pub, ISBN 978-0-8153-4106-2), "Molecular Cell Biology" by Loish et al. (6th, 2007, Freeman, W.H.&Co, ISBN 978-0-7167-7601-7) and recently published journal articles distributed and presented in the accompanying seminar (216431b). 3. Further remarks: The participants are advised to read prior to every lecture the respective chapter(s) in one of the recommended text books.
