SoSe 14: Comparative Environmental Politics: Theories, Methods and Empirical Analyses, Part B
Kirsten Jörgensen-Ullmann
Comments
The seminar (part B and C) deepen the knowledge of theories and methods of environmental policy analysis and test their practical application. Both fundamental and application-oriented research are covered. In part B we will focus on the selection of research subjects and issues and develop criteria for evaluating the relevance of research issues in the area of environmental, climate and energy policy and assess how innovative they are. Aspects covered include the identification of relevant scientific discussions, the description of the state of research, the selection of appropriate theories, the development of an analytical framework for research projects and the critical discussion of research designs. Participants develop research designs and critically evaluate research concepts through peer reviews. In part C a student research project is designed in individual or group work. During the project seminar, those working on the project receive supervision and feedback from lecturers, students and external experts from the scientific and political fields. On this basis students write an 8.000 word research paper. Attendance is limited to students of the Master program "Environmental Policy and Planning". close
