SoSe 14: Diskrete Mathematik III
Juan Jose Rue Perna
Additional information / Pre-requisites
Prerequisites/Level:
Master level (BMS students, Master and Diploma students)
Knowledge needed:
A previous course on Discrete Mathematics, such as DM II, is necessary. Additionally, a background on probability theory and complex analysis would help a lot.

Subtitle: Additive and Analytic Combinatorics
Abstract:
The course will be divided into two parts:
- Analytic combinatorics: We will introduce the basic analytic techniques in order to study enumerative problems in combinatorics. We will focus especially on the asymptotic enumerative study of graph families and planar maps.
- Additive combinatorics: The area of additive combinatorics is very recent. In this course we will introduce the basics (probabilistic methods, algebraic methods, geometric methods and Fourier analytic methods) and we will cover some classical and new results on the domain.
