SoSe 14: Das frühe arabische Weinlied (khamriyya)
Renate Jacobi
Comments
The wine song (khamriyya) is one of the most popular genres in classical Arabic
poetry. It emerged at the beginning of the 7th in the early Abbasid period by AbÙ NuwÁs (d. 813). A common feature of the genre is its subversive character, the latent and sometimes explicit protest against religious and political trends of the time. The interpretation of texts from the first centuries ofIslam will focus on this aspect.
