SoSe 15: Creative Writing in the EFL-Classroom
John Crutchfield
Comments
This course is designed for future teachers of English as a Foreign Language, who are interested in exploring ways to use Creative Writing to supplement and enrich their teaching. The course is conceived as an "experiential laboratory," in which participants will learn about the craft and artistic process of creative writing through direct experience, by experimenting with various creative writing exercises in class and critically evaluating them for their pedagogical usefulness. For these purposes, participants will keep a Course Journal for in-class writing prompts, for brief responses to course readings, and for personal reflections; and produce a modest number of formal creative texts to be submitted as a Course Portfolio. In lieu of individual presentations, the class will present a selection of its creative work at a Public Reading at the end of the term. close
