Elfriede Fürsich
Comments
This class investigates the economics of international communication from various perspectives of the major stakeholders. The course covers topics such as current and emerging business models in the global media industry; the increasing commercialization of media systems around the world; and problematic labor issues in the creative industries. We also investigate latest transnational media mergers; the strategies of global media companies such as Time Warner or Disney but also regional powerhouses such as Globo or new ‘media’ companies such as Google. This class helps students to understand and critically evaluate latest developments of the global media industry. Moreover, they will be able to gauge the possibilities and shortcomings of the creative industries. close
