SoSe 15: Introduction to Literary Studies II
Florian Sedlmeier
Comments
The seminar builds on the class “Introduction to Literary Studies” insofar as it further familiarizes students with conventions of genre, methods of interpretation and basic theoretical concepts. More specifically, this class is designed to focus on intertextual relations between singular texts, and on the relation between literary texts and other arts or media. Students will thus be encouraged to perform readings that on the one hand historicize and contextualize fiction, poetry, drama and essays, and that on the other hand identify conventions, citations, and ekphrases across literary texts. The selected examples range from the 19th to the 21st centuries, covering some of the most significant texts from American literary history. close
