SoSe 15: Critical Theory and the Middle East
Abed Azzam
Comments
Critical Theory is concerned with the misery, enslavement, exploitation, reification and alienation of The Other. Who counts as the Other? Does the Middle Easterner qualify as the Other? This seminar aims at exploring the numerous views of critical theory on the Middle East starting with the Algerian Revolution, through the Iranian Revolution and up until the ongoing revolutionary process in the Arab World. The seminar will analyze the relevant texts of key thinkers including Marx, Freud, Foucault, Deleuze, Derrida, Said and Butler. close
