SoSe 16: Innovations in News. Strategies, developments and economic implications
Jochen Spangenberg
Kommentar
As the title suggests, the seminar will look at innovations in news. We will investigate trends such as new formats and technical developments (e.g. Virtual Reality; Social Newsgathering and Reporting; Data Journalism; Algorithm-supported News, Mobile Services) and look at which media organisations (old and new) are doing what, and how they do it. A particular focus will be on financial / economic and strategic aspects and implications.
Formalities:
As to the seminar dates, some flexibility may be required by participants – some dates may have to be moved. Participants are expected to plan and prepare accordingly!
The course language is English.
For the first session, seminar participants are expected to prepare and give a short (3 min max) introductory presentation about themselves, outlining interests, experience to date etc., in any suitable (innovative ;)) format. Slots for presentations and topics to be covered will be allocated in the first meeting on 21 April only. I look forward to welcoming an enthusiastic crowd that is willing to work actively and collaboratively for all to benefit!
