SoSe 16: The Politics of knowledge in the medieval Islamic West

Maribel Fierro

Comments

The aim of this course is to analyze the role played by knowledge in the political developments taking place in the Medieval Islamic West. The focus will be put on developments within the Muslim community in its religious diversity (i.e., including Sunnis, Kharijis, Ismailis and other groupings) and in its different components (rulers, scholars, the people). How such developments affected Jews and Christians will also be dealt with, as well as with their participation in them. close
