Comments
In the wake of globalization and European integration, questions of collective identity have taken centre stage. Academics and policy makers alike argue that a common European identity is a necessary condition for the success of the European integration project. However, as it has become clear in the current economic crisis, national interests still prevail and strongly influence political decision-making. At the same time, we also observe the (re-)emergence of subnational identities, as it is the case in Catalonia and Scotland. close
