SoSe 16: V-Colonial and Postcolonial Literatures: Postcolonial Studies I: Postcolonial Theory
Stephan Laqué
Comments
Analyzing the lingering effects of colonial oppression, postcolonial theory thereby addresses some of the pivotal issues of our globalised world. It has adopted terms such as ‘hybridity’ and ‘mimicry’ from other disciplines and turned them into influential concepts which can serve to understand the postcolonial situation. Starting from Edward Said's seminal Orientalism, this lecture will follow the trajectory of Postcolonial Studies from the 1980s to the present day. close
