Die Grundfrage des Seminars lautet: Wie lassen sich Emotionen als historisch und kulturell spezifisch bestimmen und wie lassen sich kulturelle und historische Spezifiken miteinander in Verbindung bringen. Daraus ergibt sich die Folgefrage nach der Bedeutung von Emotionen für sozialen Wandel oder auch gesellschaftliche Kontinuitäten. Beides, Wandel und Kontinuität, wird in der Übung thematisiert.
Die Übung findet während des Semesters alle zwei Wochen (erste Sitzung am 20. April) statt, da die Teilnahme an der Konferenz vom 30.6.-2. Juli (siehe: historyofemotions.org.au) verpflichtend ist.
For decades emotions had been considered invariant across time and culture. Assuming that shame, hate, fear and a few others were constant feelings over time obscured the very fact that hate, fear, and shame, too, had and still have historically and culturally specific forms and expressions. This we will investigate throughout the course. Change and continuity will be the major references in our thinking and debating.
The course takes place every other week (starting on April 20th) since the participation in the conference (June 30th-July 2nd, historyofemotions.org.au) is compulsory.
