The subject matter for this course is the diverse types of memories of the Holocaust in Greece and Southeastern Europe and their transformations from the aftermath of the Second World War up today. A special focus is given to materialised forms of memory initiated and/or supported by state or international institutions or represented in museums and also to memories recorded in testimonies and (auto)biographical narratives by witnesses. Furthermore the course deals with popular and artistic depictions of the Holocaust, including cinematic and literary representations. close
