SoSe 17: Frantz Fanon and the Politics of Decolonization

This is an advanced reading course on the political thought of Frantz Fanon. It focusses on some of his key writings (including – but not limited to – “The Wretched of the Earth” and “Black Skin, White Masks”) as well as some of the subsequent postcolonial scholarship that has taken up Fanon’s ideas. While based on close readings of his texts, this course will continuously engage with the overarching question of what Fanon’s thought contributes to our understanding of international relations as a practice and International Relations as an academic field of knowledge. close
