Curd Benjamin Knüpfer
Comments
This BA level course will focus on various forms of news media and their connection to state institutions and politics. The United States will serve as the primary case study in order to compare various eras of journalism over time. On a horizontal axis, we will learn about forms of media regimes in other nation states and different typologies that might aid us in distinguishing between them. The final part of the class will look at the future of news and public deliberation by focusing on the various connections between digital media and politics. Course participants will be expected to participate actively in class discussions and closely familiarize themselves with all of the required reading material. They will be expected to demonstrate their knowledge of the texts through regular homework assignments consisting of written work as well as contributing to group work and discussion tasks. close
