This seminar will approach the variety of Shakespearean tragedy by taking a closer look at the ways in which the plays engage with the tradition and the conventions of the genre. Please purchase Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Hamlet and Coriolanus either as individual editions (preferably from the Arden Shakespeare Series) or the Norton Shakespeare: Tragedies (ed.
