SoSe 18: HS-Literature and Media: Staging Politics
Andreas Mahler
Kommentar
The early modern period witnesses a marked rise of interest in politics and history, which finds itself visually negotiated in various forms on the London stages. The seminar, which takes place from 6 to 7:30 hrs. and is offered in compulsory combination with the tutorial immediately following (beginning at 7:30 hrs.), will deal with this new problem of staging politics with regard to Shakespeare’s Richard II, both parts of Henry IV, Henry V, and Richard III (all Arden 3 or Norton). Focuses of discussion will be questions of authority, representation, the nexus of politics and aesthetics, and the vicissitudes of topicality. Participants are asked to familiarise themselves with these issues before the start of the semester. Schließen
