SoSe 18: Disunion and Conflict in Early America
Sebastian Jobs
Comments
The recent political debates in the United States have seen one claim being mentioned over and over again: never has this nation been so divided. However, if one looks at the history of the country up until the Civil War, it will become clear that fierce political, social and cultural debates have been at the heart of this country since the time of colonization. In this seminar we will explore such conflicts, the themes of disagreement and practices in which these disunions were resolved or fought through.
