Writing and researching a B.A. thesis will be one of the most exciting, rewarding and challenging intellectual challenges of your B.A. career. It is likely that you will not forget your chosen topic nor will you forget the difficulties you faced and the work you invested into this project for the rest of your life. This course offers B.A. candidates the opportunity to present their thesis research, challenges and ideas related to North American studies. We will discuss how to find and develop new ideas and how to develop a topic. The course is designed to help you grasp the basic methods of how to research and write a B.A. thesis, how to assemble data, present your ideas to others, how to write effectively and efficiently and how to develop your ideas in a meaningful, concise and cohesive fashion. Williams, The Craft of Research, 3rd ed. (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2008). You may also wish to check out Kate L. Turabian, A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, 6th ed. (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1996) in the JFKI library.
