The course covers the principles for production and quality evaluation of hay, haylage and silages with practical examples. Laboratory scale silages will be prepared as additional examples to demonstrate typical mistakes of production. Identification of grasses and other typical plants commonly found on pastures will be practiced on experimental fields at the HU Berlin. Basic principles of silage production will be provided and demonstrated using the laboratory scale silages.
