        This seminar explores how economic and political developments in the United States shaped and were in turn influenced by the structure and workings of the U.S. banking system. Topics covered include, amongst others, the creation and liquidation of the First and Second Bank of the United States, the Free Banking Era, the post-Civil War dual banking system, and the foundation of the Federal Reserve System.
