SoSe 19: Conflict and Social Order
Markus Kienscherf
Kommentar
In this seminar, we will address the relation between struggle and conflict, on the one hand, and social order, on the other. Can we really understand a ‘social order’ as a functioning system or is it just the more or less institutionalized outcome of past victories? To what extent can struggle and conflict produce social order? What can possibly lead to the emergence and collapse of social order? And what about the role of social thought in struggle and order(ing)? What is ‘the social’, anyway? We will approach these and other questions by reading a wide a variety of texts from across the social sciences (sociology, political science and law). Schließen
