The focus of the lecture is on giving an overview on state-of-the-art passive seismological methods and techniques with respect to their transfer to applied seismological topics. A special focus is on using borehole-based seismic instrumentation for microseismic monitoring along fault zones and in geological reservoirs. Other topics are principal steps in seismic waveform processing, seismomechanical reservoir characterization, determination of earthquake source parameters, stress inversion, earthquake prediction, seismic hazard assessment and industrial application of techniques that are well-established in fundamental research to industry applications. close
