SoSe 19: Seismik II: Theorie seismischer Wellen
Serge Shapiro
Information for students
(Modul MSc-GP006/D007: Seismik II: Theorie seismischer Wellen (V (2 SWS) + Ü (2 SWS) = 6 LP)
Additional information / Pre-requisites
Students should have prior knowledge of basic mathematical tools, such as complex numbers, derivatives and integrals. Methodological skills to evaluate and process geophysical data are preferable.
Comments
The main focus of this course will be on the systematic elaboration of seismic wave propagation. Starting with continuum mechanics and principles of homogeneous and isotropic media and the elasto-dynamic Green's Function, we will further discuss wave propagation in heterogeneous and anisotropic media as well as plane and spherical waves in layered media. close
