Lectures: Introduction to ore microscopy. Basic terminology and concepts in mineral deposits. Metal transport and deposition in hydrothermal fluids. The distribution, composition and geological setting of magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE deposits, magmatic hydrothermal deposits, black smokers and volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits, sediment hosted Pb-Zn deposits, gold deposits, copper deposits. Introduction to mineral exploration. Lab practical: Identification of ores and ore minerals, ore microscopy, excercises and calculations. Field practical: ore deposits in the field. close
