Seminar
SoSe 19: Empirical Communication Research
Roland Toth
Comments
The seminar is complementary to the lecture “Einführung in die empirische Kommunikationsforschung”. We discuss empirical studies on the various issues of communication research which were introduced in the lecture. The aim of the class is to deepen our understanding of theoretical approaches and concepts, research designs and the methods applied in empirical communication research. The sessions focus on studies on public sphere and public opinion, news values and news factors as well as media use and media effects. The students are expected to work in groups and to give presentations on one of the subjects of the class. Term papers can be written in English or German.
The study plan recommends students with PuK as mayor subject to take the seminar in the summer term. The ones with PuK as minor subject are asked to take the seminar in the winter term. close
