SoSe 19: Trust and Crisis - A Sociological Analysis

In this course, we use a sociological perspective to analyze the complex issue of trust and crisis. A topic that is relevant in the USA as well as worldwide. In detail, we will look at framework conditions, concepts, strategies und situation-specific interactions. -----
For this purpose, initially there will be a study of relevant theories of trust, e.g. Simmel, Coleman, Goffman, Gambetta or Giddens. Furthermore, it follows an analysis of specific structures of crisis. In addition, appropriate practical examples, case studies and analyzes are discussed in the course. Also, certain experts will give valuable insights into how specific challenges can be met. ----- A comprehensive, critical examination – including an outlook on future trends – forms the conclusion of this seminar.
