SoSe 19: Analysing Categorical Data with Stata

Tim Sawert

Comments

This seminar’s objective is to introduce the participants into advanced data analysis using the software Stata. During the seminar you will especially be introduced to a variety of different analytical techniques in the analysis of categorical data and the interpretation of the coefficients. Participants should have knowledge of statistical basics such as the counterfactual conceptualization of causality, significance and linear regression analysis. The seminar consists of five sessions. During the sessions we will how to perform and interpret logistic regression analysis, multinomial regression analysis, as well as how to calculate and interpret average marginal effects, predicted probabilities and marginal effects at means. We will also discuss how to present publishing style tables and graphs. Depending on the previous knowledge of the participants, we might be able to cover additional topics. As a preparation, it is highly recommended to work through the Chapter 10 of the book “Data Analysis Using Stata” by Ulrich Kohler and Frauke Kreuter. close
