SoSe 19: Regression Analysis with R

Philipp Wunderlich

Comments

This course targets students who want to acquire first practical skills for working with the statistical software environment R. Although it is arguably more complex than other software, R has recently gained popularity in social sciences for multiple reasons: First, it is highly flexible and can be adapted to non-standard tasks as for example in the emerging field of data mining or in the analysis of social media content. Second, it is continuously developed by an active community of programmers and scientists who also create an easily accessible and comprehensive knowledge-base online and, third, it is available as free software for almost any operating system. The focus of this course is on the basic skills needed to handle datasets and variables in R, to perform simple types of regression analyses and to present results graphically for use in papers or presentations. close
