SoSe 19: Development of the American Economy

This course will give students an introduction to American economic history from the mid-20th century until today. By analyzing case studies, students will gain a better understanding of various economic theories. Examples include the determinants of American economic growth, trade, migration, capital flows, and the development of economic inequality. Throughout the course we will aim to apply economic reasoning to historical questions using empirical approaches and discussing their limitations. The course will be taught in English. Coursework includes a final exam (60 min) and a presentation. A detailed schedule and the required reading will be provided via Blackboard. close
