Magdalena Borowik
Comments
The seminar deals with various aspects of meaning investigated from the perspective of corpus linguistics. At first, we will have an introduction to the work with corpora and will discuss the most crucial methods used in corpus linguistics. Later, the more specific focus of the seminar will be placed on lexical relations (synonymy, antonymy), prototypes, and metaphors. The last two sessions will deal with the broader understanding of meaning, namely with gender-biased language and swearwords. The aim is that at the end of the seminar, students will be able to carry out their own projects on the topic of their choice using data derived from corpora. close
